Britain rarely allows filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office
Story
In the midst of an international crisis, career diplomat Kate Wyler is given a high-profile job she’s not suited for, and one that has geographic implications for her marriage and political future. Producers American & British government gave them permission to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the most recent American embassy (in Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Credit for any film or screen production, especially an American work. One location that was unavailable was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador.
The characters and the story work
Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest living space in London outside of Buckingham Palace (11 acres), the producers used a country house outside the city for filming. Featured at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024) There’s a moment, I think, about It’s the middle of season 1 of the series, and one of the subplots went a little bit in a different direction than I expected, which was good. By the way, the dysfunctional relationships between the main characters – personal and professional – somehow work, and I like that. The writers did a good job of keeping the plot tightly focused.
The show was good
Sure, it’s not very believable, but it’s entertaining and sometimes stressful. "Secretary" It’s not; It’s not "Veep" It’s really good. I have to mention that the acting and dialogue are also very good. Can you trust them?
But that’s okay
Again: no. I quickly realized that this is just imagination, not reality. Netflix did a good job with this. I’m really looking forward to season 2.
