Every summer, usually in July, a group of enthusiasts of the largest and oldest runet of the site about consoles holds its own convention, an event for connoisseurs of rare games and prefixes. It is named after the "widely known in narrow circles" of the GBX site – GBX Summer Party. They go there from all over Russia in order to recharge the atmosphere of the games of previous years, to participate in dental tournaments, which even EVO and MFA will not diveze and win very diverse (and in some places useful) prizes.
The grass is greener, games are more interesting
► Last year, among the gifts, there was such a "package from the past". In 2014, the organizers were again able to surprise everyone with a prize-surge, which we will talk about below. By the way, he surprised the winner most of all.
GBX.RU is considered a forum on which there are many people who are dear to their memories from the 1980s and 1990s. Therefore, on the site you can find friends who still remember the floppy, the fall of the Berlin wall and the opening of the first McDonald's in Russia. And on the local "Barakholka" you can find cartridges even for museum consoles without any problems. It is these exhibits that the GBX Directorate brings annually to the event so that everyone can touch the sacred past of the console world.

In the new story of Summer Party, an important place is occupied by an eight -bit tournament in the Japanese version Super Mario Bros. 2 (she is the Lost Levels). Its inventor, Alexey Avdyukhin From Elektrostal, invented a difficult task on Summer Party 2010 – to put two champions on Super Mario Bros. 3 for two WIIs and ask them to parallel to pass one of the most difficult platformers in history for speed.

The turmoil reigned already starting from the threshold. Immediately near the entrance there was a table with icons for the venerable participants of GBX. The ordinary people were not supposed to be, so they painted their names or forum nicknames with a marker on pre -prepared leaflets. The ticket cost, like last year, 400 rubles. For this amount, guests of the Convention received a “control pass” printed on the printer, and with it the right to participate in any tournaments and the opportunity to play the consoles freely that the organizers brought.

Among the amateur conventions Summer Party is not a newcomer – it has been held annually since 2006. At first it was used as a gathering for like -minded people who want to play rare games together and discuss E3, but then the event grew into something more. It has become a club of interests uniting not only games, but the very culture of video games and related areas. The only taboo of the event is politics and political conversations that no one accepts here. And thank God.

This time, for the sake of Summer Party, the organizers removed a separate building in the Moscow Hotel "Tourist". Competitions were held in two rooms, one of which was used for musical rhythmic games (various parts Guitar Hero ), and the second acted as a museum of the old consoles and looked like a school class of computer science and cybernetics, caused by unusual devices. Despite the plain type of rented premises, the party itself was so fun that even sorry for all missed years.

Previously, the organizers were acutely the problem of financing. Due to the lack of means of the “party” in 2007 and 2009, they were even canceled, so the current one has become not ninth in the history of the site, but the seventh “gathering of enthusiasts”. In the past two years, the financial problem has become a little less acute, despite the fact that the prizes were sponsored before Nintendo, and in 2014 the festival was held without its support.
The main impression of Summer Party is of course exotic consoles and funny tournaments. The organizers came up with thirteen basic tournaments and seven secrets so that no one dared to exclaim: “It will be not enough!»The number did not affect quality – the players themselves, who confused plastic guitars and hastily changed by them during the performance of the songs.

Organizational problems, of course, were also-stuffiness, the lack of air conditioners and Nicky, who were distorted by the admins, when the list of participants announced the list, but no one had to leave due to such trifles. From the heat and stuffiness, in which case, it was always possible to go out into the street, where the company of veterans drank energy and joked on a variety of topics (except for politics!).
Some of the competitions were invented literally on the fly, in the spirit of “And let's play in Tetris, since everyone has with us! ". The list of tournaments took into account several generations of prefixes – starting with the museum NES (trilogy Ninja Gaiden ) and ending much more relevant 3DS, WII U and PlayStation 4. Among the competitive disciplines, all popular genres popular on e -sports WCG were presented: rhythmic games, races, fights and platformers. Someone even came up with a passage Super Mario 3D World on the speed and "speedrand" of the "black cloak", but without prizes.

The best joke GBX SP 2014 recognized the prize in the largest box. The most greedy player who, for the offer to choose from all gift boxes, snatched any of the XXL size to himself … And what do you think it turned out to be in it? Brick! And this brick was remembered by all eyewitnesses – people laughed, seeing the confused smile of the winner. But before he really managed to be upset, the organizers gave him an analogue of “brick”-portable and weighty Brick Game (Tetris 9999-B-1) mid-1990s. And the host, whose role was taken by the known in the narrow circles, the host of the Cozy Celch program, even speculated on the theme of Briks, bricks and broken consoles.

A lot of time and attention was eaten by an arcade machine, on which you could play a bunch of classic games. The first tournament at the event was the competition Outrun 2006 for PS2, and final – by Blazblue for PS3. The prizes were ironically packed in boxes and envelopes of the Russian Post – one of the fun traditions of GBX SP. He lives in Finland, but once a year comes to Russia to hold a “summer party” and communicate with friends. Like many regular visitors to Summer Party, MAD believes that "to visit Summer Party is worth every fan of the video game". An excellent atmosphere and a good mood did not spoil even stuffiness, since it became easier to breathe by the evening-the crowd was resolved, only the right-wing gamers were left for their retro-hobby.
